Hip Costing Him Money CBS Boston

BOSTON (CBS) Toucher and Rich were joined by Albert Breer of the NFL Network Wednesday morning to discuss all things Patriots, including the controversial ending to Monday Night Football and how Aqib Talib bad hip is costing him in free agency.

But chi flat irons before discussing Talib, Breer had to close the book on Monday Night Football and the play that everyone is talking about.

By now we all aware of what transpired: four seconds left in the game, Tom Brady throws a pass into the end zone intended for Rob Gronkowski where it is intercepted. Gronkowski was bearhugged by Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly and a penalty flag is thrown. After a brief meeting between the referees the flag is picked up with no explanation. Game over, Patriots lose 24 20.

Bert Breer is of the mind that it wouldn have been as big chi hair straighteners a deal if the flag were never thrown, and the fact that it was picked up is reason for outrage.

The NFL Vice President of Officiating Dean Blandino chi hair tools addressed the non call yesterday, and Breer believes he skirted around the issue.

was very clear that he [Blandino] was having some fun with words, basically making chi hair products it sound as if he was endorsing the call, without saying it was the right call. He explained what their logic was, but didn say if it was correct, explained Breer.

When healthy, cornerback Aqib Talib is one of, if not the best cornerback in the game. He has the ability to shut down elite receivers, as evidenced by his play earlier this season in blanking Julio Jones, Vincent Jackson, AJ Green and Jimmy Graham.

But then a hip injury flared up, one that has plagued him since his days in Tampa.

Division III football playoff bracket breakdown

Back to Main MenuNew Car PricingUsed CarsResearchMotorcyclesClassic CarsFind A DealerPlace An AdMoreHigh School Sports HomeBREAKDOWN: Especially in the top half of the bracket, there is an air of familiarity, as more than one quarter of the 14 playoff teams come from District 7 2A.Northlake Christian, which finished off its first undefeated regular season in school history, and Hannan will host first round games against Redemptorist and Westminster Christian, respectively. Meanwhile, St. Thomas Aquinas www.nflbroncosofficialstore.com/65_louis_vasquez_jersey_cheap will travel down I 55 from Hammond to LaPlace to face Riverside, and Pope John Paul II heads three hours northwest to play Holy Savior Menard.Along with Riverside from District 8 2A is Newman, which finished the regular season No. 1 in the Class 2A state poll but is the seventh seed in the Division III playoffs, and will host Opelousas Catholic. The winner will travel to Shreveport to face Calvary Baptist, which earned a bye in the first round as the second seed.Undefeated Episcopal of Baton Rouge is the top seed and also receives a bye this weekend.FAVORITE: Calvary Baptist. Despite the dominance of Episcopal, the second seed is the best team in the bracket. Their four losses came against two two seeds (Class 5A and Division I), a five seed (Division II) and a six seed (Class 5A). Since then, they won all five District 1 2A games by a combined score of Louis Vasquez man Jersey 253 30.SLEEPER: Newman. It takes a professor of calculus to figure out how the seeds are calculated, butNewman earned the No. 7 spot in the Division III bracket and will host Opelousas Catholic. The consensus No. 1 team in Class 2A not only is a seven seed, but assuming the Greenies win Friday night, their reward is a trip to Shreveport. Somehow, that seems unfair. If somehow Newman can figure out how to defeat Calvary Baptist, then they immediately become a favorite to win the Division III title. That seems highly unlikely, however, for a team that has only played away from home twice all season and no farther than LaPlace, where they lost to Riverside.PLAYERS TO WATCH: Catholic New Iberia quarterback Jason Pellerin and Calvary Baptist quarterback Shea Patterson. The Panthers scored more than 50 points in four of their final regular season games.Patterson, a sophomore, has been drumming up interest from several colleges despite an early commitment to Arizona. The dual threat quarterback has not run as much this season as he did last year at Hidalgo (Texas) as a freshman, but has passed for 2,000 yards and 26 touchdowns.IN THE 'DOME: Episcopal vs. Calvary Baptist. It boring to predict the nflbroncosofficialstore.com/59_danny_trevathan_jersey_cheap Nos. 1 and 2 seeds to make it to the state title game, but there no way around predicting that. If the top half of the bracket were a little tougher and there were a team or two strong enough to knock off the Knights, then maybe, although expect Aquinas to give them a fight in the quarterfinals next week. The bottom half Danny Trevathan man Jersey of the bracket is loaded, but Calvary has a bit too much. If any team is going to give the Cavaliers a challenge, it would be Catholic New Iberia, which could knock off undefeated Northlake in the quarterfinals.CHAMPION: Calvary Baptist. Trying not to sound like a broken record, if Calvary makes it through the challenging bottom half of the bracket, then it should be able to finish off their first state title. Other than Catholic, there hasn been a more dominating team the last half of the season, and finishing on a roll sure helps when trying to win a championship.

goaltending situation is finally taking shape

After seven weeks of trial, trouble, and turmoil, the Edmonton Oilers goaltending situation seems to have been resolved, at least for now. Tonight against the Columbus Blue Jackets, the Oilers will run with the new tandem of Devan Dubnyk and Ilya Bryzgalov.

By I speak to personnel, not role. The battle for starter/backup is very much with a proven NHL starter now here to push Dubnyk in his attempt to prove that he too is a true 1. So far in 2013 14 his claim has been undone by poor play, an ankle injury, and an undifferentiated stew of new gear / bad bounces / new coach systems but same old team. Factors that conspired to make his life on the ice fairly miserable.

Off ice could hardly have been much better. It started as off season musings by the GM about netminding and several highly visible but failed attempts at goalie acquisitions: Antti Raanta, Jonathan Bernier, Corey Schneider and don forget Ben Bishop just before the transition from Steve Tambellini to Craig MacTavish. This was quickly interpreted at the national media level to goaltending Authentic Malik Jackson Jersey isn good enough (Without a pause to take in the fact that the Oilers had allowed the second most shots in the NHL last season and the twelfth most goals.) When Dubnyk opened the season with a couple of epic fails on national TV on opening night and soon thereafter in Toronto said national media narrative crescendoed, while the confidence level of Dubnyk own fan base plummeted. He a level headed young man, but it not hard to imagine his own confidence taking a pounding in the process.

Jason LaBarbera was given the net for a couple of games (both losses), but failed to plug the leaks. Somewhere along the way, DD sustained a reported ankle injury (no telling how long he might have played with it) and eventually found himself sidelined for the first time in his career. With LaBarbera already out of favour, Richard Bachman took his turn between the pipes for three games (all losses) before he too got hurt. Dubnyk returned to the crease seven games ago and Authentic Julius Thomas Jersey hasn yielded it since, his game growing stronger all the while.

Here a graphic look at the fragmented state of Edmonton netminding, plotting each game by save percentage (starters only).

Oversized markers reflect Oilers victories (all five of them), while dashed lines indicate when the same man was given a run of games. The solid blue squiggle is the team running Sv% season to date, which has been steadily trending upward since a truly horrendous start. Just one last downward blip coinciding with LaBarbera last start, in Phoenix against his old team. JLB has since dressed as a back up to both Dubnyk and Bachman, but never got another shot. This morning, he cleared waivers and will report to Oklahoma City.

The smoothed curve is Dubnyk trend line, which indicates the arrows are pointing up and in the general direction of his established rate (.916, .914, and .921 the past three seasons). This is volatile data to be sure, but it somewhat encouraging that after the trio combined for a miserable three starts in the first 19 games, Dubnyk delivered three in succession the last week. 6 of 22 is still nowhere good enough one would expect one goalie to post a save percentage above the league rate in at least half of his games but last week for really the first time all season, the focus moved from goaltending to enough goal support absymal start for the netminders is further highlighted in this table:

Given the generally poor save percentages across the three netminders, especially in the early going, one wonders how much systems play might affect all this. Early in the season the Oil were doing much better by raw shots and scoring chances metrics, but when they did break down, a gold plated scoring chance for the bad guys was a frequent result. Not to say that problem has disappeared entirely because it hasn but by eye in recent games it seems that the Oil are generally doing better at containing the number of ten bell chances, even as their shot share has plummeted.

Dubnyk played what are still his three worst games of the season in his first four starts, and has been gradually begun to work his way out since. That .902 Sv% in his last seven suggests there is still plenty of work to do, though .938 over the last three is much more encouraging. His margin for error has been ablated away, and the lanky netminder needs to build off this solid run on a nightly basis. If he intends to keep the crease, there can be any letdowns.

Tonight DD gets the start while Bryzgalov will begin his Oilers career wearing the ballcap (or equivalent) on the bench. Dallas Eakins has wisely decided there is absolutely no reason to rush the new signee into action right away, not with his putative 1 actually playing like one. A smart decision in my opinion. One of Bryzgalov functions is to push Dubnyk, and it seems as if he already accomplishing that, even as I agree with Craig MacTavish take www.nflbroncosofficialstore.com/84_jacob_tamme_jersey_cheap that it more likely an accident of timing than anything. DD bounceback was as predictable as snow in November, it was (and remains) a question of degree.

With a legit 1 netminder now waiting in the wings, Dubnyk margin for error has ablated away to zero. If he wants to keep the crease next game, he needs to play well tonight, end of story. It a bit of statement game for Devan Dubnyk, and his performance will be key to not only tonight result but to the general bent of the team moving ahead.

Eakins is not only sticking with his starting goalie but with virtually his entire line up from Oilers 4 2 win in Calgary on Saturday.

Other than a new backup goalie, Oilers are making just a single line up change, as Justin Schultz replaces Philip Larsen in the D role, paired with Anton D Belov. Other lines and pairings remain intact, with Mark Arcobello and Ryan Jones still the odd men out up front. The old axiom, change a winning line up is surely the rationale that will be cited. If only it were that simple, that somehow one win could wipe out clusters of losses.

It a simple enough assignment for nflbroncosofficialstore.com/97_malik_jackson_jersey_cheap everybody from Devan Dubnyk to the fourth line to Dallas Eakins: just win, baby. With the Blue Jackets visiting tonight and Panthers Thursday, there won be a better opportunity to string some victories together and start the climb out of this mammoth hole.

Arizona border fence plan stalled after 3 years

Story HighlightsLawmakers: State had $264K of needed $2.8 millionFence was planned during height of Arizona immigration debateSome hope the money can still be used for border securityPHOENIX (AP) Demaryius Thomas youth Jersey A plan by Republican Arizona lawmakers to build a mile of fencing along the border with Mexico using private money has stalled nearly three years after it was sanctioned by the Legislature.

Private donations expected to fund the project dried up after only a fraction of the funding was in hand, leaving the project far short of its lofty goals.

Lawmakers on a border security committee that met Wednesday acknowledged the state has received just $264,000 for the project, well short of the $2.8 million needed to build the first mile of fencing.

The plan championed by Rep. Steve Smith originally called for collecting as much as $50 million to build a 15 foot fence at busy, yet to be determined border crossing points then erecting fences along miles of the state's 375 mile border that have no federal fences.

The effort began during the height of Arizona's battle against illegal immigration, before a backlash that left former state Senate President www.nflbroncosofficialstore.com/58_von_miller_jersey_cheap Russell Pearce out of a Von Miller youth Jersey job after a recall and the GOP led Legislature with no more appetite for measures targeting immigration.

The Arizona officialbroncosonlineproshop.com/88_demaryius_thomas_jersey_cheap Legislature's border security advisory committee, which includes lawmakers, sheriff's and state department heads, took no action Wednesday on a new spending plan. It also put off until next month a discussion on how to allocate what money it has.

Donations dried up less than six months after the state launched a website in 2011 to collect money for the project. In December of that year, the state had more than $250,000, but the tally remained at just over $264,000 on Wednesday.

Smith, R Maricopa, said he still hopes to use the cash as seed money for some type of enhanced border security a fence or some other measure he declined to detail.

"I think all options are on the table," Smith said. "I think people would be really surprised what we can do with a little bit of funds."

The committee co chair, Rep. David Stevens, said Smith is considering asking the committee to distribute money to sheriffs with jurisdictions along the border.

"He wants to put it to use on the border, because it's not enough to build a fence," Stevens said Tuesday evening. Smith would not confirm that on Wednesday.

The Legislature created the committee in 2011 and tasked it with making recommendations to the governor about how to handle the border. The fence project was one of its key goals.
